The UAE's coastline is one of its biggest draws, sailing out of Dubai Marina, fishing off Abu Dhabi's breakwaters, or spending a weekend on the water in Fujairah. But bright sun bouncing off open water creates a specific problem regular sunglasses don't solve: horizontal glare.
Standard tinted lenses reduce overall brightness, but they don't filter out glare, the intense, reflected light that bounces off flat surfaces like water. Polarized lenses use a special filter that blocks this horizontal light, cutting through surface glare so you can actually see into and past the water's surface, rather than just squinting through a dimmer version of it.
Beyond comfort, this has a real safety dimension. Reduced glare means better visibility of other boats, buoys, and changes in water conditions, useful whether you're sailing, jet-skiing, or fishing. It also reduces eye fatigue during long days outdoors, which matters in a climate where sun exposure is a year-round reality, not a seasonal one.
A few features matter more on the water than on land:
Our IC1 - Marina line was built around exactly this combination: a polarized, blue-tinted lens with a hydrophobic treatment, paired with a Performance Retainer so the glasses stay put whether you're trimming a sail or reeling in a catch. The full KIT also includes a cleaning cloth, spray and protective case, useful when salt residue is a daily reality rather than an occasional annoyance.
If you spend real time on the water, polarization isn't a nice-to-have. It's the difference between fighting the glare all day and actually enjoying the view.
